A Certified Mental Health Counsellor, with 8+ years of experience in practice, 175+ closed cases, and two TED talks on the psychology of everyday life.
Whenever I have discussed my work, I have rarely focused on diagnoses or techniques. Instead, I have spoken about creating experiences: a sanctuary, emotional safety, helping children understand mental health, strengthening professionals, building resilience.
My approach is deeply humanistic. I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the soil in which healing grows. I am interested not only in what my clients do, but in who they become.
First, you must find a place where you feel safe. Then, together, we will walk through healing. Transformation will emerge from that process. My approach is respectful. It doesn't promise miracles, it doesn't pressure the client, and it doesn't imply that healing can be rushed.
When I sit with another human being in their vulnerability, I experience a sense of alignment — my abilities, my values, and my purpose all come together. This is not simply a profession for me. It is my way of expressing my life and existence. I am fully present with my clients.
I am a Certified Mental Health Counsellor practicing for the past 8 years. I also serve as Mental Health Advisor to a leading school and have been certified as a CBSE's school counsellor. My private practice takes up most of my time — my clients are spread out from beyond our shores as well — and I deliberately see no more than 2 to 3 clients a day. So, every hour I give is unhurried and enables me to be fully present.
My journey into understanding mental health began many years after my twin’s journey into the depths of mental anguish.
She was extraordinary. A First Class First in both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Jadavpur University. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, London. Brilliant, accomplished, admired — someone who seemed to have everything going for her.
Yet, behind that remarkable life lived a mind constantly at war with itself. Trauma, fear, and relentless emotional pain became companions she carried every single day. To the outside world, however, she appeared perfectly "normal." She smiled, worked, socialized, and fulfilled every expectation placed upon her. Very few people ever knew about the battle she was fighting.
In 2023, I lost her. Not to a physical illness, but to unbearable psychological pain.
Long before that heartbreaking day, I had begun noticing something unnerving. My sister was not an exception. There were countless others quietly carrying invisible burdens — people who laughed at parties, went to work every morning, cared for their families, and yet returned home every evening to minds that refused to let them rest.
Many have sought help but found themselves becoming one among dozens of clients seen in a single day — the dedication is often genuine, but meaningful healing requires time, attention, and a relationship built on trust. Others never sought help at all, believing mental health was merely "overthinking" or, worse, "hocus-pocus." I knew otherwise — I had lived beside someone whose invisible wounds eventually became fatal.
Then life brought me face to face with my own trauma. Desperate to find relief, I tried every path I knew — scientific, spiritual, philosophical. Nothing eased the emotional pain that had begun to consume my life. Eventually, I met a therapist — unlike anyone I had encountered before. By then I had already begun studying psychotherapy, and she later became one of my teachers. She didn't simply help me recover; she transformed the way I understood myself, my relationships, and life itself. She taught me skills that allowed me not merely to survive difficult experiences, but to move through them with clarity and resilience.
For the past eight years I have had the privilege of walking alongside people during some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. During this time, I have successfully closed— each representing not just a number, but a person, a couple, or an entire family who entrusted me with their pain.
My private practice occupies most of my professional life, and I work with clients not only across India but also with members of the Indian and European diaspora. My work keeps me closely connected to the emotional realities faced by adolescents, teenagers, educators, and families in today's rapidly changing world.
I deliberately limit myself to only two or three clients each day. Therapy should never become an assembly line. Healing deserves presence. It deserves patience. It deserves to be unhurried. I would rather help a few people deeply than many people superficially.
No one should have to fight their inner battles alone.
If my sister's story could not have a different ending, perhaps it can help someone else's story begin one.
